Across the street from Riverfront Stadium, there’s a cool little unsuspecting carryout restaurant tucked inside a building at the northwest corner of Texas and Sycamore Street. Tanker BBQ Co. has been open for around six months. During the summer and fall months, they could be seen doing outside popups, so those leaving a Windsurge game or any Riverfront Stadium event could swing by and grab some BBQ.

I finally stopped by Tanker BBQ Co. as I was responsible for picking up a bunch of food for my family. As I walked inside, the place had that beautiful aroma of BBQ; one of my favorite smells in the world.
I glanced at the menu and landed on the Tanker BBQ Co. family platter, which included 4 meats and 4 sides for $40.
Their specials sign said they had smoked pork & beef chili, so I asked for that as well.
I totally forgot to snap a picture of everything, but to start, the chili was excellent. While I haven’t been out to eat a lot of chili lately, this definitely stuck out as one of my favorite chilis I’ve had. The rest of the sides were great as well. The sweet corn casserole was certainly a crowd pleaser.
As for the BBQ itself, it was all simple yet delicious BBQ. The chicken at Tanker BBQ Co. had a nice amount of char on it, which I loved. The ribs were the food dish to be finished first. My family found them to be really tender and flavorful. And what turned out to be a delightful surprise was the hot link. I always enjoy a small bit of heat in my links, and theirs provided just that.
But most of all, I think I enjoyed my interactions most with the owner of Tanker BBQ Co. He had this aura about him that made you feel like you were in his backyard for a cookout. You could tell he really enjoyed what he was doing, andd his positive attitude just rubbed off on everyone.
Here’s the menu at Tanker BBQ.
