Revisiting Honey & Rue’s: One of the best newer trucks in Wichita

Honey & Rue’s

It was only a matter of time before I revisited one of my favorite newer trucks in recent years, Honey & Rue’s. After checking them out last year at the Valley Center Fall Festival, I knew I had to make another visit the first chance I could. When they announced they would be in west Wichita, I blocked off the time to put that as my biggest priority for the day.

Honey & Rue’s is a food truck specializing in chopped deli subs that come in 7-inch white sub rolls. All subs are $14, but you can get double the meat for $2 more.

I’m telling you, the chopped deli subs are some of the best sandwiches you’ll find in Wichita. Hell, it’s one of the best meals.

Last time at Honey & Rue’s, I had the rodeo which included smoked ham, pepperoni, salami, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, provolone cheese with creamy Italian dressing. While I typically like to change things up, I couldn’t help but order it again.

My other half went with the Buckle Bunny, which was smoked ham, smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese with spicy mayo.

It’s a messy eat, but it’s worth every second of it. There’s an insane amount of flavors swirling in your mouth with each bite. I need to try the other subs, but the Rodeo is easily a top ten sandwich in Wichita for me. I was told the Bucky Bunny was good as well, and pretty spicy.

And of course, we couldn’t leave Honey & Rue’s without some dessert.

Instead of going with the pudding fruit parfait like last time, I had the fruit pizza, fruit nachos and a shortcake sandwich which came in a cup.

The only time I’ve used the word amazing to describe food in a blog the last two years or so was with Honey & Rue’s. I try to save it for the rare instances, even though I’ve found quite a bit of meals to be just that. But for the sake of trying to convey just how much I love Honey & Rue’s, I’m using it again. This truck is indeed amazing.
