■ USS Wichita Welcome Home Banquet | March 7
Where: Kansas Aviation Museum
The crew of the USS Wichita (LCS-13) will be visiting Wichita, March 4-8, 2024. Their “Welcome Home” visit will culminate with a banquet in their honor at the Wichita Aviation Museum, 3350 George Washington Blvd, Wichita on Thursday, March 7th at 6:00 p.m. The keynote speaker at the banquet will be the Commanding Officer of the USS Wichita, CDR Brett Ringo, USN. Also at the banquet, two members of the USS Wichita crew will each receive a $2,000 educational scholarship from the USS Wichita (LCS-13) Lehrer Family Scholarship Fund.

■ Academy Award Shorts All Day Screening | March 7-9
Where: Advanced Learning Center
Watch the films nominated for best short film in the categories of Animated, Live Action, and Documentary (categories will be shown in that order). Each film is 40 minutes or less and may not be suitable for all audiences. Doors open at 9:30 AM.

While the B-29 Doc team is working toward returning the aircraft to service and back to Wichita on Friday, Oct. 6, that will not allow enough time for the event team to successfully setup and prepare for the world-class Pull a Plane event. All money committed and raised for the event that was scheduled for this weekend will be held and moved forward into 2024 for the event that will hosted March 9, 2024.

Music inspired by Kansas composed for you and the Wichita Symphony! Be in the Century II Concert Hall for this world premiere and celebrate the special occasion. Composer Tim Hinck draws inspiration from his visits to Kansas and immersion in our urban and rural landscapes. He writes classically beautiful music powered by moments of high-octane adrenaline and peppered with the influences of film scores and big-band jazz.

■ Pauly Shore’s Stand Up Comedy | March 2
Where: Crown Uptown Theatre
Shore tasted super-stardom in 1990 when his MTV show Totally Pauly hit the airwaves to major fan approval. The show ran for six years, leading Pauly to a one-hour HBO comedy special, Pauly Does Dallas, and starring roles in films like Jury Duty, In the Army Now, Bio-Dome, Encino Man, Son In Law, and A Goofy Movie. Pauly went on to produce and star in several of his own projects, including Pauly Shore is Dead, as well as the comedy specials Vegas is My Oyster, starring Andy Dick, Tom Green, Bobby Lee, and Pauly-Tics, starring Herman Cain and Larry King. In 2014, he released Pauly Shore Stands Alone, a true-life road documentary that follows Pauly as he performs in obscure towns throughout Wisconsin while dealing with his personal life.

St Joseph Parish Dinner

■ St Joseph Parish Dinner | March 10
Where: St. Joseph Church
This will be our 64th annual dinner and we host this dinner to celebrate the feast of St Joseph. This dinner is our parish’s largest fundraiser and it takes just about every family in the parish to accomplish. Parishioners cook a German sausage supper with mashed potatoes, scratch made gravy, sauerkraut, coleslaw, corn, cinnamon applesauce and homemade pies for dessert. We also have a game room for the kids, beer garden for the adults, and a raffle with tons of prizes, including the 50/50 grand prize. If you are short on time, we have drive-thru service and walk up to-go meals. Meals are $15 each and it is a ton of food. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.

■ Potato Luncheon Fundraiser | March 10
Where: Woodridge Christian Church
Help support Group 180 as they host a Potato Bar Luncheon on Sunday, March 10th following worship. There will be tons of your favorite toppings to choose from to load up your potato! Soup will also be served. The luncheon will be a donation lunch which can be paid in person or through the WCC mobile app.

Kansas Sneaker Fest is the Largest sneaker convention in Kansas. A unique marketplace for sneaker enthusiasts to buy, sell, and trade sneakers amongst each other. The event features vendors selling and displaying the latest and most sought after sneakers, highly coveted vintage clothing, streetwear brands and accessories. Other activities include a a free throw competition where attendees face off for a chance to win a slew of prizes. Attendees also have the opportunity to win a pair of highly coveted sneakers by supporting the sock drive which benefits local shelters in the Wichita area.
