What to expect at the new Artichoke Sandwich Bar East

The Artichoke SandwichBar

You have to love it when a local restaurant can find success and expand in town. It’s a testament to hard work and the following they’ve built to get there. That recently happened when The Artichoke Sandwichbar East opened a second location at 2959 N. Rock Road. It’s the former Wendy’s space in the Terracotta Tower at Comotara Center.

Much of what can be found at the original location at 811 N. Broadway, is available at the Artichoke Sandwich Bar East. The popular sandwiches are on the menu. There’s live music (which can be found on our Live Music Calendar) mostly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The kitchen closes at 10 p.m. and a drive-thru, while not ready at the moment, is in the works.

While The Famous No. 8 would make sense as the first item to get on the new Artichoke SandwichBar East, I went a different route.

I ordered the Seester: pastrami, bacon, Swiss & cream cheese, mustard and jalapeños, grilled on an onion hoagie. And for my side, I opted against chips and went with the pasta salad. It’s great because there were no black olives in it.

Typically for sandwiches, I avoid ones that have cream cheese in it; just not a fan of it. But for whatever reason, the Seester is wonderful and the mustard and jalapeños pair well with it. And if you’ve been to the Artichoke, you know what you’re getting. And this second location doesn’t miss a beat.

This is a really nice win for east Wichita that could use another locally owned sandwich shop and a place to catch some live music.

Next time I’m there, I might have to grab an Irish Car Bomb.

Here’s the menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
