What to expect at Culver’s ahead of their grand opening

Wichita’s first Culver’s is set to open Monday, July 8. Located at 3220 N. Maize Road in northwest Wichita, we stopped in to give readers an idea of what to expect in terms of what’s on the menu.

The fast-casual restaurant started in 1984 in Wisconsin. They are most known for such signature dishes including ButterBurgers, cheese curds and fresh, frozen custard.

Full transparency, I was invited to a soft opening event for Culver’s. During this event, the food was complimentary and tips were no accepted even when I tried to offer one. Due to the complimentary event, it felt appropriate to avoid reviewing the food. Instead, we will give you an idea of what you can expect to see inside as there is always that possible bias and conflict of interest when food is provided at no cost and the service could be different.

Here’s everything you need to know about Culver’s starting with the drive-thru. There are two lanes to allow for faster service. Each lane will have order takers and a kiosk to pay.

Families who want to enjoy the nice weather will love the patio that faces the west, which is perfect for the evenings.

If you opt to go inside, the restaurant has a capacity of 144. There are three registers to take orders, or you can also use the Culver’s app on your phone.

During our visit, we had a cod sandwich, a spicy chicken sandwich, a double ButterBurger and our youngest rounded out the orders with a couple of chicken tenders.

We followed that up with dessert. Culver’s is known for custard, so we had some concrete mixers and cups of custard.

If you order a kids’ meal, be sure to hold on to your bag. There are coupons for free custard. There’s also a scoopie token. If you save 10 tokens, your child (or you) can score some fun gear from the Culver’s wall.

Lastly, if you’re looking to take some pints of custard to go, hand-packed pints can be purchased one for $4.99 or four for $14.99.

…..and that friends is what you can expect at Culver’s when they open on Monday, July 8.
