Let’s Review Firehouse Subs!

Let’s review Firehouse Subs!

Firehouse Subs is a fast casual chain based out of Jacksonville, FL that specializes in subs. They originally started in Jacksonville in 1994 and quickly expanded to over 1,100 locations nationwide. There are four locations in Wichita and for the purposes of this review, we stopped by their Kellogg and Ridge Road location. The other three are at New Market, Kellogg & Rock, and north Greenwich Road.

Their menu consists of different subs with three different sizes of small, medium and large. Small subs run 4 inches long, mediums are 8 inches and larges are 12 inches.

We ordered two medium subs:

  • New York Steamer which includes corned beef, pastrami, provolone, mayo, deli mustard and Italian dressing. Prices for the sandwich were $5.69, $7.99 and $11.49 depending on size.
  • Engineer which included smoked turkey breast, Swiss, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and deli mustard. Prices were the same as the New York Steamer.

Both subs were hot subs and came out nice and warm. For a chain, I’ve always enjoyed Firehouse Subs. The bread was soft and the subs were delicious and fresh. I’ve had a handful of different subs on past visits and the New York Steamer and the Engineer have always been my favorites. I’m such a sucker for corned beef on sandwiches and Firehouse Subs offers a great option.

My only wish at Firehouse Subs is they put a little more meat in their subs. I’m not the biggest guy in the world but their medium and large subs often still leave me hungry with how little meat there is. So, I either find myself ordering an extra sub or paying for double meat.

Aside from that, Firehouse Subs is up there for me as one of my favorite chains in town.

On top of that, they do a lot philanthropically so that’s a big plus as well.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
