First look at SmokeHouse ICT’s new brick & mortar restaurant

Smokehouse ICT

There’s a new, but familiar BBQ spot, open at 2800 E. Central in the former space held by such restaurants as Mo’s Hut and Kiko’s. SmokeHouse ICT who’s been running a Texas-style BBQ food truck has made the jump to a brick & mortar space. Owner Chris Morgan sold his food truck and opened this restaurant back in May.

This was my first time visiting the new location. I’ve been a big fan of his mobile operations and have been excited to try this out.

I was joined by fellow food bloggers, Significantly Spicy and Bottomlesspit ICT (give them both a follow!). We ordered a bit of everything on the menu.

They went with the smoked salmon filet which was served on a bed of rice pilaf and a whole smoked chicken dinner with the Cory’s Gone Bananas dessert. They were both big fans of the food. I did try some of the smoked chicken and good heavens, that was a juicy, delicious piece of meat. I was extremely fond of the seasoned skin. Come to find out, the smoked chicken was a new addition to the menu.

Also, new to the menu were the ribs and flan. Seeing as though I never tried their takes on it, I went with that and some smoked turkey as well. I’m a big believer in that you can never order too much BBQ.

There wasn’t a single part of my meal I didn’t enjoy. The ribs had a nice seasoning, and just took a small tug off the bone to get your mouth on a smoked piece of meaty goodness. I barely had room for the smoked turkey, but managed to get a few bites in before deciding to take the rest home for leftovers. Once again, another win for my taste buds.

Before leaving, I made sure to save room for the flan. I loved the hint of caramel in each bite.

Everyone left with their bellies and taste buds pleased and satisfied. SmokeHouseICT is certainly one restaurant to add to your list.

Happy Dining,
