Last November, Viola’s Pantry moved into the former Birney’s Snack Shop space at the Cleveland Corner at 156 N. Cleveland. It was one of the few places around town to get local homemade pastas and sauces to take home. Things were going so good, they expanded at the Cleveland Corner which allowed them to offer more Italian goodies.

The expansion which took place in July added 500 square feet. Customers can now purchase imported Italian goods such as wines, olive oils, sauce, and more.
With the expansion, also came the addition of an espresso bar, breakfast, and lunch along with seating inside. I stopped by to pick up some maritozzi meatball sub sliders for lunch. I loved the texture of the brioche buns. What didn’t look like much, ended up being a heavier meal. The red sauce was just right, and not too sweet. It paired perfectly with the meatball and cheese.
Interesting sidenote, I actually returned later that day to pick up some tiramisu. I’ve had a LOT of tiramisu around Wichita, and this one would definitely fit into my top five. I may have to go back to my favorites, purchase them all, and do a blind taste test of my top five and see how this would rank. It was so good and made me want to go back for a third time that day for more.
Viola’s Pantry is definitely one of THE places to go for fresh, handmade food.
