First look at Sugar Llamas mini donuts and desserts

Sugar Llamas

I have to confess, it’s been about a month since the new mini-donut shop, Sugar Llamas, opened and we’ve been a handful of times. Our house is full of donuts lovers and when it comes to food, I aim to please. Bringing home goodies for my family is my love language, and there’s been plenty of love shown around the house as of late.

The mini-doughnut business is a chain started in Tulsa, OK and finally arrived in Wichita in the past few weeks.

While Sugar Llamas serves ice cream, coffee and other treats, it’s really all about the mini donuts that are made fresh as you order them. There are multiple ways to enjoy mini doughnuts; you can have them plain, sprinkled with flavors like powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or cocoa. There are also an assortment of toppings and drizzles including lemon, Nutella, caramel, strawberry, cherry, banana, blueberry, chocolate and more.

The mini donuts can be ordered in 6, 12, 16, 25, 36 and 100. Most of the time, we go for either 25 or 36 unless feel like splurging, being generous and ordering 100.

Our family’s favorite flavor is the sopapilla which is cinnamon, sugar, and honey. We always get those and then mix and match different flavors. I think we’ve tried every flavor there is to date.

During one of the hot summer days, we did opt for a strawberry shake which was absolutely refreshing.

Sugar Llamas

Our daughter loves donuts and, most recently, we did a little daddy daughter date where she changed things up and had strawberry glaze with sprinkles.

There’s so much to love about the bite-size treats that make you feel like you’re eating fewer donuts when, if you’re like us, you’re probably eating more. They are so easy to eat and feel like they melt in your mouth (and sometimes in your hand if you’re outside).

The last time we went to Sugar Llamas, my daughter asked if she could get some donuts to bring to her friends. Of course, I said yes and it was heartwarming to see that perhaps she has the same love language as her dad.

If you hadn’t guessed by now, we are huge fans of Sugar Llamas. The brick & mortar donut shops serving the miniature variety haven’t had the best luck over the years, so here’s to hoping this is the one that sticks.
