For those who have been to GangNam Kitchen and Adrian’s Cafe, the interior is similar with the narrow building. But that’s not whats important, it’s the food.
My friends and I all stopped by to try out the new restaurant. When we arrived, we were given complimentary egg drop soup. It wasn’t anything special. But it was free, so we didn’t complain.
For an appetizer, we went with their grilled chicken spring rolls. We found them to be extremely dry and a little bland. Their peanut sauce had loads of coconut inside it which none of us preferred. This wouldn’t be something we’d order again.
Everybody at the table looked immediately at the pad Thai and said, “Man, I should have ordered that. It looks good.”
…..And good it was. I was actually quite surprised how delicious the pad Thai was. I had mine medium with shrimp while my friend had his mild with chicken. We both commented on impressed we were with it. The mild offers very little in the way of heat. The medium was perfect. It provided just enough kick that you knew it was there but not so overpowering that you couldn’t keep eating it. The noodles had great consistency. They weren’t too dry or overly soggy and certainly full of flavor.
As for the other too dishes. While many friends enjoyed their dishes and had no complains, they still wished they would have went with the pad Thai which seemed to be the true winner of the four meals we ordered. There certainly wasn’t anything wrong with the garlic pepper or Thai BBQ though.
Outside of our starters, we had a great time at Tuptim Thai and would consider going again for a quick lunch visit.
Hopefully the food and quality and remain consistent over time. If so, they could be there for the long haul which is good given how busy the intersection of 21st and Rock is. Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think of it in the comment section below.
Here’s their menu:

I’ve eaten at Tuptim Thai five times so you can tell I enjoyed the food. In fact, I think it’s the best Thai food in town. I too had the grilled chicken spring rolls and shrimp spring rolls and enjoyed both. I especially liked the peanut sauce served with them. I loved the Tom Ka Gai soup and other dishes I had. Note you’ve posted only their lunch menu. The dinner menu is more extensive, including many dishes not on the lunch menu. You can order off the dinner menu at lunch.
